Current situation In the year 2006, the value added realized by service industry in Zhenjiang reached RMB 36.4 billion at a growth rate of 15.4% on a year-on-year basis; it accounted for 35.5% of the regional GDP, 0.5% higher compared to the last year; contribution rate to the economic growth reached 38.6%, 2.2% higher compared to the last year.
Overall objectives Up to the year 2010, the value added realized by service industry in Zhenjiang will at least be doubled on the basis of that of the year 2005 through carrying on the Plan of Doubling Service Industry and account for more than 40% of the regional GDP at that time; the employment in service industry will amount to 40% of total employment of the whole society.
Development focus Modern logistics, tourism, circulation business, information service, commercial service, financial service, real estate, cultural industry, community service.
Space layout According to the city¡¯s space layout and the district¡¯s productivity, it aims to promote comprehensive development of service industry by planning as a whole of manufacturing and service industries, urbanization and service industry, giving prominence to the idea that city is the vehicle of modern service industry and industrial parks are the bases for productive service industry.
² Build belt areas of assembling area for the development of modern service industry relying on the Tow-Alongsides industrial layout
- Build up a belt area for the basic industries alongside Yangtze River with a plan focusing on developing port logistics of cargo consolidation, port congestion relieving and multi model transportation for heavy lift products and bulk cargo.
- Build up a belt area for the tourism industry alongside Yangtze River with a plan focusing on developing cultural tourism, leisure tourism, river tourism, commercial tourism, featured catering service, tourism shopping, hoteling and other tourism supporting services.
- Build up a belt area for the high-tech industries alongside Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway with a plan focusing on developing highway express logistics, information, technology, professional service and other knowledge and technology intensive service industries.
² Build service industry assembling areas to support production and living relying on the city, development zones and transportation hubs.
- Shape a central business & trade district by concentrating on developing shopping, catering, leisure & entertainment and tourism industries, relying on the advantages led by existing multi service resources that are assembled in Da Shi Kou area.
- Build a CBD by planning reasonably and developing positively modern service industry such as information, business, finance and office, relying on the development and construction of Nan Xu New Town and in combination with the southward shifting of the city¡¯s administrative center.
- Forge a technology and service intensive area through bringing into the advantages from assembled resources of education and research into play and developing R&D and technical innovation vigorously, relying on the industrial scale and characteristics of Dingmao Development Zone.
- Establish a major distribution center for the city¡¯s products through constructing an assembling area of large scale goods trade markets in the Double Cross area formed by Zhenrong Road, National Road No. 312 and south approach of Zhenjiang-Yangzhou Bridge.
- Perfect further and hasten the construction of central business & trade districts in all cities under Zhenjiang¡¯s jurisdiction and in the Dagang Development Zone.
